There are so many great yarns and felting projects locked up in these warm batts and combed tops. I try to buy from local farms where I can and where the sheep live long, happy lives. Otherwise, I buy my undyed wool from reputable sellers so your wool comes free from cruel or inhumane conditions.

About the Artist:

I am a dyer, spinner, knitter, and budding weaver. I try to work as closely as I can to the raw material. Nearly all of the items in my shop have been hand dyed by me in an environmentally conscious way. All items which are handspun, knitted, or felted are entirely made by me. I am a production specialist, but I don't have commercial capabilities. I am an artist at heart and a scientist at hand.

Items listed as OOAK (one of a kind) are simply that, one of a kind. I often use those to spur my creativity when I fall into a slump, so if you like a color, let me know. I might be able to devise a recipe for reproducibility.

I am environmentally conscious, so I work hard to use every bit of usable fiber for batts (the bits that come off the drum carder go into a bag for making Pottage Batts). I have also worked very hard on my dye recipes to make sure that the dyebaths fully exhaust.

When you receive items from me, I encourage you to recycle everything (95% of my packaging materials are recyclable), and what can't be recycled in your local area, you can reuse or give to the birds (after all, I mostly sell fiber items).

Thanks for looking! I can be reached via etsy conversations, or by my e-mail address: expertlydyed [!at] zoho.com

I'm one of those people who always wanted to be artistic, but my hands could never do what I wanted them to do. When I finished my master's degree, I decided to apply my science background to art.

Now that I'm finished with my PhD, I can tell you how important it is to work with your hands! Coming up with new colorways, fiber/fibre blends, and experimenting keeps me going through all the tough bits life throws my way. Take heart in your own creativity and let's explore the wonderful world of animal and plant fibers as a community.

Payment

I accept Debit/Credit cards via Direct Checkout and PayPal.

Shipping

I ship with Royal Mail. Domestic (UK) orders are shipped First Class, and International (non-UK) orders are shipped standard. All orders can be upgraded with tracking. All orders are shipped in cane fiber bags that are compostable, and they won't tear open during shipping. They feel like plastic so they'll keep your fibers dry during the shipping process. I ship all fibers in recycled tissue paper and shipping slips for easy storage as-is.

****************************************************************************
I ship as often as I can, and will usually mean I will ship your item the next day. I mostly work on the weekends and will handle dyeing, shipping, and custom blends at those times.

Additional policies and FAQs

All DYED TO ORDER yarns will color match regardless of when it was dyed, due to dyeing according to recipes I have developed. There may be minor differences between the yarn gauge or fiber content. In projects, there will not be a noticeable difference when adding in a new skein of yarn and there should not be any color pooling.

**Custom Spinning (Currently Unavailable)

Are you in love with my fiber colors, but not a spinner? I can make a smooth yarn just for you in whichever color you choose from my shop (one-of-a-kind items not included). International shipping is available!

If you want me to make some yarn for you, please send me a conversation. I can begin offering you a discount on bulk custom spinning orders which include a minimum of 3 skeins. This offer cannot be combined by adding and extra skein to your order. Coupons cannot be used on custom spinning orders.

For the finished skein, I will apply the following rates for each skein of the finished yarn (the largest skein I can make is 4 ounces):

single: just cost of yardage*
2-ply: $1.50 more*
3-ply: $3.00 more*
4-ply: $3.75 more*

wool fibers: $0.15 per yard (merino, bfl, falkland, etc)*
luxury fibers: $0.18 per yard (silk, silk blends, etc.)*
rare fibers: $0.21-$0.50 per yard (it depends on how rare the fiber turns out to be)*

Because yardage is lost for multiple plies, I will apply the following rates for yardage:

$0.20 a yard for a 3-ply (wool)*
$0.25 a yard for a 4-ply (wool) *

$0.23 a yard for a 3-ply (luxury fibers)*
$0.28 a yard for a 4-ply (luxury fibers)*

Add $0.08 more per yard for 3-ply (rare fibers)*
Add $0.14 more per yard for a 4-ply (rare fibers)*

This pricing is to offset the extra worked involved in spinning multiple plies.

I am comfortable making fingering weight singles all the way up to superbulky 4-ply. If you would like more plies, please send me a conversation with your request. I'll see if I can work with you to get what you want. If you'd like me to add seed beads to your yarn, let me know before your order begins. They will be added for an additional charge (based on how often you'd like the beads placed).

Since your yarn will be made to order, please allow approximately 1 week for me to spin it for you. If you are requesting more than 8 ounces at a time, please allow 2-3 weeks. I will keep in contact with you throughout the order so you are aware of my progress.

If you'd like to get an idea of the costs, send me a conversation regarding the yardage you need, the number of plies, and the gauge of your yarn. I'll be able to estimate how much your custom order will be.**
